Our School

If you have a young family to educate and live in Dubai, you are very fortunate for more than geographic reasons. Opened in September 2005, GEMS Royal Dubai School offers an exceptional quality of education from Foundation Stage to Year 6. We offer the National Curriculum for England, taught by British trained and experienced teachers who have been chosen for their ability to create a motivational, child-centred environment. This has led to the school being recognised as ‘Outstanding’ in all categories by BSO (British Schools Overseas).

Throughout the school a warm and friendly ‘family’ atmosphere pervades. Self-confidence and self-esteem thrive in an environment that is encouraging, academically challenging and rewarding. We teach the National Curriculum for England within a High Performance Learning culture.

Individuals are important to us and we aim to give all of our children positive encouragement during their school life to help them develop into accomplished, happy, self confident, well- mannered young people who have respect for others.

We strongly value links with parents at GEMS Royal Dubai School and work hard to develop effective home-school partnerships. This includes regular communication and times for us to meet and listen to each other as well as an exciting mix of performances, exhibitions, competitions and sporting events.

Continuing the RDS journey into Secondary

From the start of the academic year 2024-25, RDS will be launching its new secondary provision with the introduction of Year 7 in August 2024, followed by Year 8 at the start of the 2025-26 academic year with our new secondary campus opening in the summer of 2026, conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk from our current school.

The intention is for RDS to eventually become an all-through school, serving students from Foundation Stage all the way up to Year 13, subject to final approval from KHDA and the relevant authorities. While the new Secondary campus is designed and constructed to the highest standard, Year 7 and 8 students will begin their senior school journey within the existing RDS building. By the time the secondary campus is complete in 2026, the new site will open with Years 7, 8, and 9 in place.
