Student Leadership

At GEMS Royal Dubai School, importance is placed upon student voice, through consultation and listening and valuing student ideas and opinions on how the school can be improved. Staff and students work in partnership through a democratically elected body of students whose purpose is to represent their peers and to be a forum for active and constructive student input into the daily life of the school community. Student Leadership is split into three main strands:

  • Senior Student Leadership Team, elected Year 6 students who are the core student leadership team. Roles include Head Boy and Girl, their deputies, House Captains, the Sheikha Fatima Award Winner and Civic, Charity and Wellbeing Ambassadors. They meet regularly to discuss relevant school topics such as homework, house competitions, student wellbeing and events. Our head boy and girl are also a vital part of our GEMS Cluster Student Leader Cabinet.
  • Student Subject Leadership Team which consists of children selected from Year 5 and 6 students who represent and support the teaching of all subjects across school.
  • Student Council is made up of elected students from Years 3 to 6. Class Representatives discuss the items on a published agenda and raise points from the class to the council.
